success

This is a momentous occasion.
I successfully made my first loaf of homemade bread.
Thanks to my sister Janica for inviting her friend Kim over to teach
us how to make this easy dough recipe
that can be used for bread, rolls, pizza dough, and cinnamon rolls, etc.
It is universal.
And thanks to my mom for getting me this fabulous piece of machinery for christmas.
Because of all these wonderful people,
I have made homemade bread, rolls and pizza this week.
I feel so domestic;)
Here is the fabulous recipe.
Bread in an hour from start to finish.

10 1/2 cups of flour (I use half white and half wheat)
3 quarter size squirts of soy lecithin (pantrysecrects.net)
3 T yeast (heaping scoops)
1 T salt
1/2 cup sugar
5 cups warm water (put water in microwave for 1 min.)

Set oven to 350 degrees.
Poor all ingredients except for water in your bosch or mixer.  Turn on your mixer and slowly poor the water into your mixer.  If you listen to the sound of your bosch it will first sound like it is working hard and as you gradually poor in your water you will here the sound change, like it is mixing easier.  Let is mix for about one min.  Dough should be pulling away from the side of your mixer. Stop the mixer and test your dough with your fingers, you want the dough to pull from your finger when you pinch it between your thumb and pointer finger.  If dough is good continue mixing for 6 more min.

Use butter, crisco or pam spray to grease your hands, table, rolling pin and bread pan.
Drop dough onto table and cut it into four even sections.  This recipe makes 4 loaves of bread.  Drop each section into a bread pan and put a towel over the bread and let it rise for 25 minutes.  Then put your bread in the oven and cook it for 25 minutes.

When your bread is finished rub butter along the top and take bread out of pans and let cool on a cooling rack.

Enjoy!

  1. yummy!!! and I dunno if this makes a difference but mixing all the dry ingredients for a spin or two before adding the soy lethicin and water. And heat the water for a tad longer. I think the 1 minute was just for 2 loaves of bread. BUT yours looks like it turned out so it could just be me:)
